"Last Skipped" in iTunes or iPod

by scoobydoofus @ 14/04/2008 - 11:16:02

I just found out that your iPod and iTunes will only mark a track as "skipped" if you press the "next" button between 2 and 30 seconds into it. Before or after this time frame and the skip is ignored.

That solved a mystery for me! I was skipping tracks too soon, and they weren't being removed from my random playlist. I now exercise a little restraint before bashing that skip button when it plays Steps Erasure ABBA... oh, hell, they're all too embarrassing to list.

And just what's embarrassing about having ABBA on your iPod?

I just said that out loud, didn't I?

I think as long as you have some rock to balance it out, you're ok.

I meant to ask you, you've had your iPod Touch for a while now, how's it holding up? I read that the screen is pretty scratch resistant but the back isn't so hot. I'd be interested to know if I need to get protection for my iPhone.

I've found it rather handy to put a layer of sticky-backed plastic over the front of it (in a kind of Blue Peter fashion!) otherwise the screen, whilst not being scratched, does get rather greasy no matter how clean your fingers are.

As for the back, yes, it scratches easily. You should see the state of mine already, and I try my best to look after it!

My mate Graham, whose purchase of one prompted me to buy it, has the same problem despite having bought a case for it too. So you'll probably need to protect it. Better safe than sorry.

Hmm. Well, I never normally bother with protection for my gadgets, but with the screen on this thing being so important, I'm thinking THIS for the screen and then maybe THIS for the body.

The slider case is a good idea, but I wouldn't bother with the crystal film sets. Fablon is far cheaper and just as effective. Trust me, I know! ;)

The attraction of those crystal films is that they're already cut to size, and they're a kind of rigid plastic, easy to apply and minimal risk of air bubbles. And I'm lazy.
